Brief position description: The role
This is a unique entry level role featuring 50% scientific software development and 50% desktop support.
This is a newly created role with the potential to evolve over time. We are looking to provide a new service to our scientists, this will involve talking to them, looking at what they do and writing software to solve their problems and automate repetitive tasks such as reviewing biomedical images.
Duties and responsibilities include:
Scientific Computing:
Speak to scientists and translate their problems into software requirements and provide solutions
Create software to analyse images, video and data from a range of scientific equipment
Create software to automate scientific tasks
Desktop Support:
Providing technical support, both in person or over the phone
Work with Microsoft Windows 7/10, Apple OSX, Microsoft Office 2010/365, Windows Server 2008/2012, Microsoft Exchange 2010
Installing and configuring computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers and scanners
Application & Network troubleshooting
Setting up accounts for new users
About you
You will be a recent graduate with a talent for helping others solve and translate their problems into software requirements. Along with this you will have a strong passion to offer creative solutions to meet other’s needs.
Above all, you will have a passion for helping others and working in an environment alongside the most exciting and cutting-edge cardiovascular researchers in Australia.
We would like to meet you if you have:
University Degree in IT or Engineering
Proficiency in at least one programming language, such as python, R, Java or C++
A technical, logical thought process
Problem-solving skills
Creativity
Excellent customer service skills
