Agilent Genomics provides a cloud-based software platform to help genetic labs and clinicians pinpoint and report on genetic defects that cause disease in patients. Our solution enables the automation of clinical annotation and streamlines reporting of structural and molecular variation.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, customer-oriented Field Application Scientist to join our Genomics Software Solutions team in Australia and help grow our business in the APAC/SAP region. Responsibilities
As a Field Application Scientist you will serve as the primary, customer-facing pre/post-sales support resource for Agilent's Alissa Clinical Informatics Platform and provide local informatics support across a network of leading healthcare and research organizations. You will:
Prepare for and manage all aspects of pre-sales demonstrations;
Participate in bid teams to develop project proposals together with sales and technical teams;
Represent the company at scientific conferences and trade-shows, including staffing of booth, demonstration of software and technical representation in customer meetings;
Support customers in evaluating the products to bring the evaluation to a successful conclusion;
Operate in a consultative fashion to match customer needs to solutions offered by the company;
Provide installation, training, and on-site software configuration support as needed;
Supporte account managers in attending to customer satisfaction & product relevance through regular site visits or contacts;
Handle technical queries from customers regarding use and functionality of software products (first-and second-line support);
Proactively identifying potential customer issues with Agilent products and coordinating corporate resources to find solutions;
Participating as an active member of the team to provide feedback on product direction and market/customer requirements.
Advanced degree in molecular biology, genetics, bioinformatics or computer science (or equivalent, relevant experience);
2+ years of industry experience in a clinical setting;
Familiarity with wide range of molecular genetics tools such as linkage analysis, karyotyping, array-CGH, Sanger and next-generation sequencing (NGS) within various clinical domains (rare diseases, pathology, reproductive genetics, ...);
Familiarity with working with next-generation sequencing data analysis tools and analysis / bio-informatics pipelines;
Affinity with software, software configuration and troubleshooting; experience a in technical / customer support role a plus;
Past experience with bioinformatics, scripting languages, linux / unix a plus.
You have good communication skills and have no objections to frequently interact with customers;
You have an enthusiastic can-do mentality, and you are a dedicated team-worker and a clear communicator. Entrepreneurial attitude and creativity are important.
Willing to travel periodically (domestic and international) -- around 35% travel time.
