Reporting to the Director of the Australian Bioinformatics Commons within Melbourne Bioinformatics, and funded by Bioplatforms Australia, this new position will be directly involved in coordinating and supporting high profile research collaborations across Australia that utilise various Bioinformatic analyses. Bioplatforms Australia manages a national network of accessible genomics, proteomics and metabolomics facilities for Australia.
Bioplatforms Australia also catalyses nationally collaborative initiatives to develop large scale datasets through development of data generation and analysis workflows as well as capacity building resources to help address challenges of significance to Australia. Bioplatforms Australia develops and manages these large and complex collaborations in partnership with the research community across the breadth of the life science sector: http://www.bioplatforms.com/projects/
The nationally inclusive nature of these Framework initiatives (i.e. many and varied consortium participants) in addition to an approach that requires the research community to contribute new and existing resources (i.e. samples, data, metadata, analysis pipelines, bioinformatics analysis effort) means dedicated, active and effective engagement and coordination is critical to success.
The bioinformatics requirements for this portfolio of national collaborations requires dedicated engagement, coordination and management.
