ABOUT US
Sequins core technologies include a widely published program originating at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research (in Sydney). The platform combines synthetic spike-in DNA and RNA controls with bioinformatic software used during genome sequencing to increase the accuracy, performance, and quality of genomic data.
With your experience developing and using bioinformatic tools for clinical genomics and exposure to diagnostic platforms, you will collaborate with industry and production partners, and provide hands-on support implementing and shaping the Sequins platform.

You are a motivated and talented scientist wanting to be an early and foundational member of a team at the forefront of genomics technologies. You are also a problem solver with a meticulous attention to detail and keen observation skills. With genomic and bioinformatic knowledge and laboratory experience, you will contribute to the development of new controls and pipelines for genomic sequencing applications while working with other smart, ambitious individuals.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
· Strong verbal and written communication skills
· Understanding of genomics and personalised medicine
· Experience with bioinformatics, NGS protocols and analysis of next-generation sequencing data
· Ability to work effectively both autonomously and as part of a team
· Enthusiastic and innovative in approaching new challenges
DESIRABLE
· Proficiency with programming (Python) and source code management
· Demonstrated genomic analysis experience, including relevant software and bioinformatics tools
· Experience with process development, method validation, and document management and control (including version status, approval, and document review)
· Experience in using and managing high-performance computing
· Understanding of clinical diagnostics and clinical interpretation of genomics data
· PhD in related disciplines.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Analysing and interpreting next-generation (genome) sequencing data (for example GATK, MuTect)
· Designing new synthetic genome (DNA and RNA) controls according to product specifications, using Sequins technology and contributing to its further development
· Preparing reports, procedures, and processes to support the design and use of synthetic DNA products and genome sequencing
· Researching and innovating in new synthetic genome controls
· Supporting the company’s broader research and development efforts, including process and quality improvement, method validation and establishment of new services
· Engaging and supporting external technical scientists
· Collaborating with a dynamic team to develop new genomic products
· Documenting workflows and process development
· Providing technical project management and reporting
