Brief position description: PO3: The primary objective of the Senior Clinical Bioinformatician is to contribute to the delivery of high-throughput genetic testing technologies by implementing and maintaining genome analysis pipelines for diagnostic application. The incumbent is responsible for the delivery of specific tasks relating to project deliverables, including collaborating in the ongoing development of scalable platforms for storing, analysing and exchanging clinical and genetic data, participating in currently implemented algorithms for mapping and analysing human molecular variation. As a senior member of the Technology Advancement Unit, the incumbent leads and directs projects under limited supervision and collaborates and directs activities of other staff to drive service development and innovation. Bachelor of Science required, Bachelor of Applied Science or equivalent, preferably with experience in bioinformatics and genome analysis. PO4: The Senior Clinical Bioinformatician oversees the delivery of bioinformatics analysis and software solutions for high-throughput genetic testing by applying high level technical expertise to implement and maintain genome analysis pipelines for diagnostic application. Working collaboratively with Unit Heads and service development scientists, the Senior Clinical Bioinformatician will determine the most efficient way to deliver bioinformatics and genome analysis pipelines to meet service requirements for genetic diagnoses. The Senior Clinical Bioinformatician contributes to defining best-practise standards for bioinformatics and genomic analysis in the Directorate and contributes to national and international genomic initiatives to advance clinical genomics. The incumbent will participate in research activities, including research publications and applications for funding, as appropriate. Bachelor of Science required, Bachelor of Applied Science or equivalent, (e.g., Doctor of Philosophy in Computer Science), preferably with experience in bioinformatics and genome analysis.
