Brief position description: This position is in the Systems Genetics Group, Centre for Diabetes Research at The Harry Perkins Institute. We have developed new approaches to produce genetic tests that identify people at high risk of common diseases like cancer, heart disease, diabetes complications, etc. We are looking for a programmer who can implement and further develop machine learning and other methods to develop genetic tests for risk of heart attack, stroke and other diseases. Experience in machine learning methods and Parallel Programming (MPI, XGRID, CUDA) is essential. The successful candidate will have the ability to work independently, show initiative, problem solve and work productively as part of a team.
Proven ability in C/C++, Python desirable, MySQL, R, SPSS. and experience in other statistical packages is an advantage.
