Brief position description:
We are seeking 3 postdoctoral or research fellows for the project “Analytics for the Australian Grains Industry” (AAGI) within the Biological Data Science Institute (BDSI) at the Australian National University. The BDSI is a multidisciplinary academic unit in the ANU College of Science and Medicine that sits at the interface of data science and biological science with a focus on accelerating the translation of biological data to biological knowledge. The candidate will have opportunities to work closely with team at ANU and external partners.
You should have a PhD (or awarding of a PhD within six months of appointment) in statistics, bioinformatics, or related quantitative discipline and possess strong scientific programming skills, demonstrated experience working with real data, and a substantial commitment to reproducible and transparent workflows.
Your key responsibilities include:
- Developing, validating and maintaining analytical pipelines for crop single cell data generated by collaborators, with robust programming standards and effective version control
- Contributing to the development of a strong collaborative analytical research program with researchers in the AAGI project
- Support researchers with diverse range of background (e.g. plant scientists and statisticians) and facilitate communication with researchers in the AAGI project
- Undertake training, consulting and administrative duties where required
