Brief position description: We seek an experienced post-doctoral scientist/bioinformatician with proven next-gen sequencing (NGS) analysis experience to join the Blood, Stem Cell and Cancer Research Program of Professor David Ma in the St Vincent’s Centre for Applied Medical Research (AMR).
Our multifaceted program includes the study of haematopoietic stem cells with an emphasis on understanding molecular gene regulation and cellular alteration underpinning the formation of blood malignancy; the identification of novel drug targets and therapeutic approaches for acute leukaemia; and investigating age-related haematological mutations and their association with disease. The successful applicant would have demonstrated experience in the analysis of NGS data, with specific knowledge of bioinformatic/statistical techniques for the analysis of rare somatic mutations, with knowledge of population genetics/GWAS highly desirable. A track record in publications and experience in grant applications will be highly regarded.
The successful candidate will be expected to work in a multi-disciplinary team. The position is available for 12 months with the likelihood of renewal. Salary and conditions will be in accordance with qualification and experience.
