Position title: Research Software Engineer
Employer: WEHI
Closing date: 05/04/2021
Brief position description: An exciting new opportunity exists for a talented research software engineer to work on software tools for functional genomics.
Understanding human genetic variation is a key component of genomic medicine and our ability to treat disease. Multiplexed Assays of Variant Effect (MAVEs) are a family of experiments that allow researchers to simultaneously measure the impact of many thousands of genetic variants in parallel. As with all new approaches for scientific data generation, high-quality data analysis software is an essential.
This is a software engineering role within a computational research group, working in collaboration with international scientists who are generating and using MAVE data. Experience with genomics, biochemistry or bioinformatics data analysis is beneficial but not required.
The successful applicant will have strong software engineering and software development experience, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The role may require working directly with researchers outside of WEHI, including software developers at other sites who are contributing to this and related projects.
This role is available as local or fully remote.
