Position title: Bioinformatician
Employer: Centre for Population Genomics
Closing date: Until filled
Brief position description: We are seeking a Bioinformatician to help drive the development of cloud-based analysis pipelines for large-scale genomic datasets, both through the scaling-up of existing tools and the implementation of novel analytical methods as open-source software solutions. Initially this role will involve the extension of pipelines for processing sequencing data from thousands of individuals, leveraging tools like hail to perform efficient read alignment, variant calling and quality control. Additional focus areas could include the implementation of local ancestry methods and/or other approaches to more accurately represent data from highly diverse and admixed populations, and the scaling up of novel methods to jointly analyse rare and complex variation from whole genome sequences in conjunction with single-cell RNA sequencing data from thousands of individuals.
