An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Research Officer with experienced in Bioinformatics, Chemometrics or Biostatistics, to join the Centre for Computational & Systems Medicine (CCSM) at Murdoch University. This is part of the WA Premier’s Science Program specifically aims to apply metabolic phenotyping and data analytics with clinical application targeted at disease prevention.
The position will drive research activities that focus on the development and application of high-fidelity computational and statistical modelling pipelines for modelling spectroscopic data generated by instruments such as nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and mass spectrometers. The candidate will develop and apply univariate and multivariate statistical and pattern recognition techniques to interrogate the spectroscopic data. The candidate will also contribute to the rapidly expanding opportunities in precision health.

• MSc or PhD with experience in Chemometrics, Bioinformatics or related fields, with a strong focus on applied statistics
• Professional experience in data analysis, data modelling, statistical analysis, and results reporting
• Proficiency in programming languages such as R, Python, MATLAB and JavaScript
• A track record of applying mathematical analysis to interrogate spectroscopic day. Relevant techniques include, and not limited to, pattern recognition, multivariate regression, and machine learning
• Practical experience in analysing high dimensional data, especially data derived from MS and NMR spectroscopy, and visualisation of results
