Brief position description: The Cancer Genomics Translational Research Centre requires a highly experienced research scientist to take on the role of Lead Computational Biologist, with expertise in cancer genomics, bioinformatic methods, clinical informatics and statistics. In this exciting new role, the lead will be responsible for the co-ordination and execution of multiple translational research projects, including involvement in building and supervising of a team of staff. Key duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to): - In conjunction with the Head of the Cancer Genomics TRC and other TRCs, the lead scientist will design, conduct and report on defined academic and commercial translational research projects. - Establish, train and mentor a team with capabilities across a range of different computational methods. - Work with other TRC members to establish an efficient data analysis workflow and data management structure. - In collaboration with other researchers, core faculties, the research computing facility and the clinical bioinformatics team, the lead scientist will research and develop innovative computational methods for use by the TRC, focusing on developing tools for clinical translation and potential commercial application.
