An excellent opportunity is available for a Masters or PhD qualified researcher in Bioinformatics to join an international, multidisciplinary collaborative research program investigating mechanisms of hormonal regulation of gene expression in the Dame Roma Mitchell Cancer Research Laboratories (DRMCRL), and Robinson Research Institute (RRI), University of Adelaide. This team studies mechanistic aspects of steroid hormone receptor action to develop therapies for breast and prostate cancers as well as for reproductive function and contraception. 

The bioinformatician will be central to the experimental design of multi-omic (ie. ChIP-seq, RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, proteomic and metabolomic) discovery research projects and analysis and integration of large ‘omic datasets. The successful applicant will work closely with investigators in both the DRMCRL and RRI, their national and international collaborative partners, and integrate with specialist bioinformaticians in the University of Adelaide eg SAiGENCI. 

The successful applicant will have a commitment to the application of bioinformatics in hormone action research and contribute to the preparation of manuscripts and presentations at local, national and international meetings. The candidate should have the ability to apply mathematical, statistical and computational principles to genomic problems. Experience with data analysis, programming and large datasets would be an advantage as would experience in R, Python, Unix and software development. 

This is a full-time position commencing immediately for 1 year in the first instance, with high probability to extend. Salary is Academic Level A – Level B (AUD $72,829 – $121,779) plus 17% superannuation.
