Brief position description: CSL Research is hiring a Senior/ Research Software Engineer to join our Global Data Science team at Bio21 Institute, Australia. This is a great opportunity for someone to establish themselves in designing and implementing modular solutions and best software development practices with CI/CD and DevOps procedures in an HPC environment. The incumbent in this position will lead software development activities in the Research group to assist scientists automate their data processing workflows in order to improve their effectiveness and efficiency and enable integration of data analytics across projects.
Working closely with scientists to effectively understand, capture and interpret their software requirements, you will devise a development plan that might include interacting with external stakeholders (academic collaborators, vendors, etc.). Furthermore, you will work closely with scientists to design and implement software and software modifications in order to ingest and process large-scale datasets that are generated in-house and/or collected from public databases. You will work with the enterprise IT (BT) organization and their Research BT unit to improve the standardization of data handling across CSL Research globally and migrate intensive computing workflows into cloud-based solutions where possible.
