Position title: Postdoctoral Research Associate

Brief position description: This position is funded by Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF – EPCDRI) for improving early-detection and diagnosis of liver cancer (hepatocellular carcinoma, HCC). The position duration is 12 months and is extendible subject to the satisfactory performance. The objective of this role includes, but not limited to, developing advance artificial intelligence (AI) and bioinformatics methods to individual clinical metadata, and extensive microbiome-based dataset to identify and validate HCC-specific microbial-derived metabolic/cytokine biomarker models for the early diagnosis of HCC.
The Research Associate will be primarily based at the ‘AI-empowered Biomedicine Laboratory’ (vafaeelab.com) at the School of BABS. The Lab is led by Dr Vafaee, Senior lecturer at the School of BABS, Deputy Director of UNSW Data Science Hub (uDASH), and ‘Health Data Science’ Theme Leader at uDASH. The Research Associate will collaboratively work with an interdisciplinary team of researchers and clinicians.
