Position title: Research Computing Engineer

Brief position description: To support its world-class research, WEHI has made significant investments in developing a state-of-the-art computing environment, spanning traditional on-premise HPC and cloud, and the expertise to harness these resources.
The role is part of the Research Computing Platform team and will work closely with WEHI’s researchers and ITS team. It will involve development and optimisation of data analytic pipelines and tools, data management and data movement tools, database development, collaborative planning of hardware and software infrastructure, the development of policy and procedures, and researcher training.
The successful candidate will have excellent computing knowledge and skills, a capability to learn and acquire new skills, strong communication and interpersonal skills, good understanding of computational research and the needs of researchers, and strong software engineering experience. The role will be required to build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with all stakeholders.
Terms of appointment
This position is available for two years in a full time capacity, in the first instance. Salary is Professional Services Employee Level 7 ($92,193 - $99,800). Up to 17% superannuation and very attractive salary packaging options are available.
