Brief position description: An exciting opportunity exists for a talented and motivated bioinformatics researcher to join our team, to develop and apply novel methods for cancer genome analysis at Australia’s pre-eminent biomedical research institute. The position will involve developing and applying novel computational methods to analyze cancer genome sequencing data and other cancer omics data, especially from our unique rare cancer patient cohort. The role will generate new bioinformatics methods and contribute to new discoveries of cancer drivers and other phenomena including chromosomal instability and the role of extra-chromosomal DNA. This will involve building methods to analyse short and long read DNA sequencing data from individual genomes and cohorts. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team of computational scientists in a supportive and flexible working environment. They will be encouraged to develop new research directions that complement existing themes within the division and have the opportunity to establish and contribute to collaborative research projects and to gain supervision experience.
